With his band “Time Bandits” Alides Hidding reached top level in the eighties. This Dutch band with it’s unique mix of funk and pop made themselves heard nationally and internationally.
In 1981 the Time Bandits scored a big dance hit with “Live it Up”, which reached the No.#1 spot of the American Dance Charts.
In 1983 the song “I’m Specialized In You” reached the second place in the top 40. It was a monster hit with more than 90,000 copies sold in the Netherlands and five times as much in France.
The following single “Listen To The Man With The Golden Voice” also reached the top 10.as did in October 1983 the single “I’m Only Shooting Love”. The band also then also broke through internationally. The singles did well in France, Portugal, America and Australia.
The Time Bandits went on tour to Australia and New Zealand. In 1984 the single “Reach Out” reached the top 40 and in 1985 another major hit was scored with “Endless Road”.
In between Alides left for the United States where he wrote songs by invitation of the very talented Dan Hartman.
In October 1985 the single “Dancing On A String” became a hit. And in 1986 the single “I Won’t Steal Away” written by Alides Hidding and Dan Hartman became a hit.During the course of this year, the band regularly went on tour to other European countries, including France and Portugal.
In 1987, Alides again left for America to work on new material with Dan Hartman. The result was the singles “We’ll be dancing”, “Wildfire” and the album “Can’t Wait For Another World”. After four successful albums, Alides Hidding decides to put an end to the Time Bandits in 1989 for the time being.
Alides then moved to Los Angeles, United States, where he wrote songs for artists such as Jennifer Rush, Helen Schneider, Trini Lopez and The Nylons, in collaboration with other composers such as Dan Hartman (Relight my fire), Charlie Midnight and Dwayne Hitchings.
He also wrote music for the children’s cartoon series “Star Street”.
Alides Hidding is still on stage and shares his passion for music with the current audience and plays his hits for his fans. His music remains popular (18,000 views per month on Spotify).
